History:
2007 Formed TimeMachine Films. An independent production company with Adrian Brant., produced Christmas special for Channel 9 2007.
Current Consolidated exclusive personalities and actors client list. Continues to travel between Sydney and Los Angeles introducing clients to LA managers, agencies and casting agents. Appointed to the board of “The Actors Centre”, Acquired the literary and film rights worldwide for Jose Ramos Horta. (Current elected Prime Minister of East Timor) Launched the clothing label Boyz Rule throughout Myers stores Australia wide and produced Boyz Rule Website and Animation pilot. Joined forces with speaker’s industry leader Claxton International Speakers.
2004 – 2005 Within one year successfully relaunched MMA, a powerful boutique sized management company representing 50 of the industries top personalities and actors. Continue to closely manage the careers of Australia’s high profile personalities/actors/presenters. Redefined international relationships towards making future paths of Australia’s finest. Toured and produced highly successful theatre productions to Adelaide Festival and Melbourne Comedy Festival. Produced comedy pilot for Channel 7. Received grant from NSW Film and Television Office for the development of feature film. Formed company with Australia’s most successful children’s authors to create merchandising and television opportunities for their international best selling books. Created clothing brand for clients and set up deals with one of Australia premiere Clothing Store distributors. Currently developing television concepts for major Networks.
2004 Resigned as CEO of Encompass and set up current company Mark Morrissey and Associates (MMA).
2002-2003 Approached by financial representatives and encouraged to “merge” company into larger organization Encompass.
2001-2002 Produced television programs for Channel 10 and Channel 7.
2002 Successfully marketed Australian clients, (one went on to host own television show in LA), placed numerous actors with agents or managers whilst coordinating all Australian affairs.
2002 Nominated in magazine New Idea as one of Australia’s top 50 most influential entertainment figures.
2001 Opened Melbourne and LA offices. Invited by the Channel 9 Network to be “on camera” judge for new talent show “Starstruck” Series commissioned for second series.
2001 Morrissey Entertainment Produced toured and co-financed the record-breaking tour of John Waters in John Lennon’s, “Looking Through a Glass Onion”. Box office records for this production still remain.
2000 Morrissey Management expanded to Speakers/Presenters.
1999 Invited by the Agents Association of NSW as Secretary of Agents Association.
1995 – 2001 Decided to solely operate own management business and resigned from Actors Agency and set up Morrissey Management. In a very sort time built the business up to be one of the most successfully and entrepreneurial management companies in the country. Opened a voiceover arm that established itself within 18 months as the industry leader in the servicing of voiceover artists, Morrissey Voices. Also opened division for the session singers. Expanded Morrissey Management to international levels by exporting new young Australia film actors and forming close relationships with UK and LA agents.
1995 – 1998 Took out lease on theatre in Glebe NSW and launched the Bay Street Theatre and began personally touring and producing theatre throughout Sydney and Australia. Began touring acts internationally. Set up the Australian Young Peoples Theatre Festival. Produced and toured comedy performers to the Melbourne Comedy Festival and then to UK. Launched the careers of Glynn Nicholas, Umbilical Brothers, to name a few.
1990 – 1995 Obtained agents licence and opened the Sydney branch of the Actors Agency, working as agent/partner for the sister office based in Melbourne. Began representing actors for the entertainment agency. Managed the careers of many Melbourne based actors in Sydney who went on to international careers.
1989 - 1991 Moved to Sydney and was offered role of theatre management at the then new “Footbridge” theatre by entrepreneurs Gordon Frost Organization. Managed many (18) touring theatre shows performing at Footbridge throughout period. Went on to learn all aspects of theatre management and touring.
1983 - 1989 Performed as actor in Film, Television and Theatre, including miniseries, soap operas, TVCs etc…
1981 – 1983 Toured with Arena Theatre Company throughout NSW and Victoria.
1979-1981 Attended/graduated 3 year course at National Drama School in Melbourne, Victoria.
