BIO

Ryan began his media career in radio at the age of 18 in the promotions department at Radio Newcastle. Ryan’s enthusiasm, charisma and natural ability for presenting soon meant that he was out of the promotions office and behind a microphone entertaining his home town of Newcastle, NSW. In the six years since starting in the radio industry - you name it Ryan’s done it. From 2003 – 2009 Ryan worked in various programming roles at NXFM and KOFM (Austereo) including; Presenter/Announcer, Voice-Over Artist, Production Assistant and Producer. Currently Ryan is working at NEWFM (Super Radio Network) as the “Drive’ Presenter/Announcer (2pm – 6pm) and as Music Director at NEWFM and across 12 stations in the Super Radio Network.

Ryan also works as a music journalist / writer / contributor for a street press music magazine and a number of online music websites and blogs – but he doesn’t really call listening to his favourite artists’ new album or seeing their live show as ‘work.’ Put simply, Ryan loves music.

It was Ryan’s passion for music and desire to score his dream job as a Music Television Presenter that saw him enter the Channel [V] Presenter Search 2009. Out of 3,500 original hopefuls, and four long months in which he described as “the longest job interview in the history of job interviews,” Ryan finished runner up during the Top 3 finale show which was filmed live at Homebake in Sydney. Channel [V] producers believed that Ryan’s relaxed presenting style, ability to laugh at himself, his obvious passion for music and the plethora of music knowledge was a key ingredient in his success throughout the competition.

Besides his radio and burgeoning television career, Ryan’s also managed to complete a four year Health Science degree (Occupational Therapy), and was a former top 5 ranked Australian junior tennis player where he won numerous national and state titles. Ryan’s a keen surfer, snowboarder and skater; and he’s travelled throughout Europe and North America in the past twelve months.
